[Video] Your Success: Are You Taking it For Granted?

[Video] Your Success: Are You Taking it For Granted?

As many of you may know, we just had the Winter Olympics, and the US women’s hockey team beat the odds and won the gold.

So, because I live in America, there are inevitable references to that famous Miracle on Ice game.

If you don’t know the story, here’s the cliff notes version. In 1980, the US men’s hockey team beat the Russians. Now, that may not sound like a big deal, but at the time, the US men’s hockey team was something of a longstanding joke.

That’s because if you were a professional athlete, you were barred from competing in the Olympics. So, no NHL players. Instead, the US would field a team of a bunch of college kids.

The Russians, however, for all practical purposes had their professional hockey team in the Olympics. Yes they weren’t technically professionals, but Russia had found a way to get around that rule.

This particular Russian team was really good. All it did was win. The players had been together for years and they had won virtually every game they played.

Until they ran into the buzzsaw of those college kids in the Olympics.

You may have seen some of the pictures from that Olympics, specifically the famous Sports Illustrated cover that showed the pure chaotic joy of the players celebrating on the ice.

But, what isn’t talked about as much is what the Russians were doing.

They had gathered together on their side of the ice and were standing there watching the Americans lose their minds.

I saw a documentary about the Miracle on Ice, and filmmakers had interviewed one of the Russian players. They asked him what he, and the rest of the team, was thinking at the time.

The player said, and I’m paraphrasing, they were watching the Americans because they had won so often and for so long, it had become expected. They no longer felt joy when they won a game. They had forgotten the joy of winning and watching the Americans brought that back to them.

Now, I’d like to bring this back to you and your business. Is there some successful part of your business that has become so expected, so routine, you’re taking it for granted?

I’m not talking about your entire business, just one part. For instance, maybe you get a crazy high open rate. Or maybe you have really good organic traffic to your blog. Or maybe you have a popular podcast with a lot of downloads.

Never mind if you’ve figured out how to monetize it yet. Are you seeing some level of success that you’re now expecting and taking for granted and no longer celebrating when it happens?

If we’re forever stuck in this energy of “not enough” or “well sure this is good but look at this other list of everything that sucks,” how can we possibly open ourselves up to receive bigger levels of success?

In fact, that’s one of the secrets of a gratitude practice. Being grateful for what you have opens you up to receive even more.

So, I’d like to encourage you to take a moment and celebrate the small successes of your business. Especially anything you used to celebrate and you don’t anymore because it’s happened so often you are now taking it for granted.

[Video] Flip It! Can Gratitude Help You Manifest Your Dreams?

[Video] Flip It! Can Gratitude Help You Manifest Your Dreams?

If you’ve ever dabbled into Law of Attraction principles or other spiritual practices designed to help you grow your business and manifest your dreams, you’ve likely been encouraged to have a gratitude practice.

And, if you’re like a lot of entrepreneurs, including myself. you may find yourself rolling your eyes at this advice.

It sounds too easy, doesn’t it? Just come up with a list of things you’re grateful and that somehow is going to help you manifest your desires.

Really?

Precisely how is THAT going to make you more successful? Especially if you’re struggling right now and the last thing you feel is grateful.

So, I get it. I was skeptical too.

Then, I read a study in the book “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” by Dr. Joe Dispenza.

A group of participants were asked to hold a beacon with DNA strands in it while focusing on unwinding the strands. If they just used their thoughts to unwind them (like what we all learned in the movie “The Secret”, which was anything you thought about, you attracted into your life) nothing happened.

BUT, the group of participants who felt grateful as they thought about unwinding the strands, they were actually able to unwind them by 25%.

The key is to combine the emotions of gratitude with the power of your thoughts. If you can do this, and do this consistently (like every day) you’ll manifest what you desire.

Gratitude is one of the highest vibrations there is. That means the longer you’re able to stay in gratitude, the longer your energy is operating at that higher level, and as like attracts like, that high vibrational energy is attracting your desires to you.

Now, I’m grossly simplifying Dr. Dispenza’s work here, but if you want a couple of pointers to get started, take a few minutes to watch below:

Supercharge Your Gratitude Practice and Grow Your Business Fast

Supercharge Your Gratitude Practice and Grow Your Business Fast

How many times have we heard it? The secret to success is to have a gratitude practice — write down three or five or 10 things every day you’re grateful for.

Now, I’m not saying that’s not a good thing to do. Any sort of practice that helps you focus on all the wonderful things you have versus what you don’t have is a good thing.

But, the problem with that gratitude practice is that it doesn’t go nearly far enough. You see, the secret of a gratitude practice, what makes it a truly powerful, life-changing practice, is to tap into the FEELING of gratitude.

If you can truly feel grateful, that energy is what will attract more of what you want to you.

But, it goes even deeper than that. Gratitude is actually such a powerful emotion that, if you regularly practice feeling it, it can transform your life. Here are three other ways you can use gratitude to grow your business:

  1. Market and sell yourself using love-based principles.

When I talk about the love-based copy and marketing philosophy, I teach that to actually market yourself with love, your mindset (or “come from”) needs to be based in love.

While this is important, it’s also easier said than done, especially if you’re really struggling financially in your business.

That’s why I teach that a quick way to shift your energy is to focus on gratitude. And, what I mean by that, is to focus on feeling grateful.

  1. Turn around feelings of entitlement, grumpiness, or general dissatisfaction with your business.

It happens to all of us. We decide we’re done with our business. We’re running off to live in a hut on a beach.

Now, in some cases, there is a good reason for those feelings—maybe they’re an indication of the fact that we’ve actually built the wrong business for us. But, in many cases, we’re just experiencing a moment of entitlement.

No, entitlement-related feelings aren’t only for the Millennials. If you’ve ever had a moment where you found yourself saying things like:

• “This should be easier.”

• “I don’t understand why I’m not successful yet.”

• “I’ve done everything I’ve supposed to and I’m not successful yet.”

• “This isn’t fair!”

I hate to break it to you, but you’re having an entitlement moment.

And, it’s okay. We’re human. Feelings of entitlement are a part of being human. Millennials certainly didn’t invent them.

But, if you’re trapped in that feeling, it’s not going to help you grow your business. One of the best ways to shift that feeling and get yourself out of it is to focus on feeling gratitude, instead. Flip your perspective, and find something you can feel deeply grateful for to concentrate on.

  1. Supercharge what you want to manifest. (Ah, this is a fun one.)

I first learned about this in the book “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” by Dr. Joe Dispenza, but here’s a (very) simplified version of what he teaches.

If you want to manifest a certain outcome for yourself, like hitting a specific income goal, you can supercharge that manifestation by using gratitude.

Here’s how this works:

Focus on feeling grateful. Really feel the emotion. Let it fill your body.

Now, while you’re in this state of gratitude, start visioning what you want to manifest.

See it come true. Really see it happening in your mind.

And, as it comes true, focus on feeling even more grateful it is coming true.

And that’s it! Manifestation, supercharged.

Do this regularly, and watch how your life changes.

[Video] Flip It! Does Law of Attraction Actually Work?

[Video] Flip It! Does Law of Attraction Actually Work?

You’ve undoubtedly heard of the Law of Attraction, which was made famous by the movie “The Secret.” At its simplest level, it’s a Universal Law, which says that we attract into our lives whatever we focus on.

Some people make “vision boards,” so they have a visual representation of the things they want to focus on. Other people set goals or intentions, and work toward them each day. Still others practice gratitude, or meditate.

Some people say the Law of Attraction works.

And some people say it doesn’t.

And some people say it only works some of the time.

What do you think?

A quick online search of, “Does the Law of Attraction work” returns more than 42 million results—so this is obviously a widely discussed topic.

At one point (after watching “The Secret”) I was convinced it doesn’t work. I wanted to earn more money. But the more I thought about money, the more stressed I felt, and the less money I had.

Now, though, my perspective on the Law of Attraction has shifted—because as I embarked on my personal development journey I met some really great mentors who had more experience with it, and who were able to teach me some of its nuances.

I talk more about this shift in this episode of “Flip It!” but for now, I’d like to point out one thing: that simple explanation of the Law of Attraction—that we attract whatever we focus on—really does the Law a disservice.

And it does you a disservice if you don’t explore the Law on a deeper level. You see, the Law of Attraction is about more than what you think about. It’s about what you feel, and who you are, while you’re in the midst of attracting things into your life.

So I invite you to watch this episode of “Flip It!” and begin your own exploration.

2 Steps to Using the Law of Attraction Correctly and Attracting More Money

2 Steps to Using the Law of Attraction Correctly and Attracting More Money

Are you as skeptical as I was that the Law of Attraction even works?

(Growing up in Wisconsin and the daughter of a scientist, when I first heard of it, I thought it was pretty much a bunch of bull.)

However, at the time when I was first introduced to the Law of Attraction, I was pretty desperate. I was trying all sorts of strategies to attract more money to my business, so I thought why not? I’d give LOA a try.

What did I have to lose?

It turned into one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

Now, before I go any further, let’s talk about what exactly IS The Law of Attraction. It’s a Universal Law, which means it’s always working: “Like attracts like.” In other words, you’ll attract experiences that align with the energy you’re putting out there. Whether it works for you or against you is up to you.

That first time I encountered the Law of Attraction, I didn’t use it correctly. Consequently, I didn’t get the results I was hoping for. (Actually, it was a lot worse than that. I ended up getting myself so messed up it took months to fix.) I did eventually turn things around, but not without a lot of needless suffering and angst. (I share more about my Law-of-Attraction-from-Hell story in my “Love-Based Money and Mindset” book.)

Before I tell you about the 2-step mindset shift that will help you use the Law of Attraction correctly so it actually works for you, I want to give you a quick word of warning: do NOT be deceived by how simple this process seems.

As humans, we often make things more complicated than they are. In reality, keeping things simple tends to serve us better.

Give this a try and see what magic starts to happen in your life and in your love-based business!

Step One. Notice evidence of abundance (whether it’s money or love or anything else you feel is lacking) in your life or business.

When we experience a lack of something, we often start obsessing about it. When we obsess, that’s all we think about.

Our energy reflects that, vibrating at a low frequency of lack.

And then (because as you know, “Like attracts like”), we attract more of that lack.

It’s important to note that this is about more than telling yourself not to think about something—because that never works!

Let’s use money as an example. If you feel like there is not quite enough money in your life or business, then you’re vibrating at a low frequency. To shift that energy, start noticing abundance everywhere.

Find a penny on the street? Receive a check from a client? Discover a dollar in your jeans pocket? Take note of this! It doesn’t have to be cash money, either. For example, if a friend treats you to lunch or someone brings you flowers, or a prospect wants to meet with you – these are all examples of abundance.

Now, journal it! Record five instances of money or abundance in your life, every single day. Even if you don’t believe you have five per day, you’ll start to SEE what you actually do have, already.

Step Two. Be grateful for all the evidence of abundance in your life.

Gratitude is the LOA’s best friend! The more gratitude you feel, the more good things happen for you.

The great news is that Step Two ties directly in with Step One. When you’re journaling your evidence of abundance, take some time to be actively grateful for each piece of evidence.

You may even express your gratitude out loud or in writing. The exciting thing about this is that when you express your gratitude for the abundance you see in your life, more abundance will come your way.

Bonus points if you practice feeling grateful for everything in your life—the roof over your head, the food in your fridge, your clothes, your relationships … you name it.

When you think about it, each of us has so much for which to be grateful. The excitement lies in this realization.

Be patient with yourself as you practice this process. It may feel unnatural or awkward, and that’s okay.

It will get easier, and it will work!

And when it does, you’ll love your love-based business even more than you already do.
